Happy Hijacked Festival!

Yuletide, quoted from Wikipedia:
Many of the symbols associated with the modern holiday of Christmas such as the burning of the Yule log, the eating of ham, the hanging of boughs, holly, mistletoe, etc. are apparently derived from traditional northern European Yule celebrations. When the first missionaries began converting the Germanic peoples to Christianity, they found it convenient to provide a Christian reinterpretation for popular feasts such as Yule and allow the celebrations themselves to go on largely unchanged, versus trying to confront and suppress them. The Scandinavian tradition of slaughtering a pig at Christmas (see Christmas ham), and not in the autumn, is probably the most salient evidence for this. The tradition derives from the sacrifice to the god Freyr at the Yule celebrations. Halloween and Easter are likewise assimilated from northern European pagan festivals.

"God will save me" says man just before jumping into Lion enclosure and getting mauled to death.

KIEV (Reuters) - A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.

"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."

EVIL BIBLE

Sites like EVIL BIBLE.com are great, laying out some of the repugnant and annoying things about religion in a clear, punchy in your face manner.

Found while googling around after reading about the crimes of Internet Evangelist and Bible Basher Charles Michael Balfe

Religious tolerance - UK vs Afghanistan

Interesting to compare the struggle of Shabina Begum in the UK with Abdur Rahman in Afghanistan.. maybe they should trade places and they both will be happy?

Meanwhile, in the US it seems those loving gentle Xtians have declared open season on any Atheists who dare stick to their opinions.

.. were published IN EGYPT in November to not a whisper of offence or protest. Seems to make a difference when you have a tour of troublemaking immans with a few extra fake cartoons thrown in touring to whip up trouble against the infidels... (who did pay for all those Danish flags? where did they get them?)

Meanwhile here are a few peace loving happy joy joy cartoons from arab countries.

On a a lighter note here are some funny sites

well it isn't tooooooo incorrect..

You scored as atheism. You are... an atheist, though you probably already knew this. Also, you probably have several people praying daily for your soul. Instead of simply being "nonreligious," atheists strongly believe in the lack of existence of a higher being, or God.

Dennis Rader - Christian Church Leader and Mass Murderer.

Former church leader admits 10 murders

... said she began corresponding with Rader around March, "as one person of faith to another."
"We eventually began talking about writing a story about his life, which would have a Christian message," Casarona said.

from the Wichita Eagle

I guess at least he is a "person of faith", I mean if he was a Marilyn Manson fan there would be hell to pay!

boy killed by christians

Terrance Cottrell, an 8 year old boy was killed by christians attemting to exorcise his autism. The Charlotte Observer/August 29, 2003 By Monica Davey
Milwaukee -- Terrance Cottrell Jr. died on the floor of a hot storefront church in a strip mall.
His shirt was drenched in sweat when the church members who were holding him down, saying they wanted to rid him of demons, finally noticed that he was dead. He had urinated on himself, and his small brown face had a bluish cast.
He was 8.
Terrance, who was autistic, was supposed to start third-grade special-education classes at 65th Street Elementary School on Tuesday. Instead, he will be buried here today.
Relatives and neighbors on the city's north side this week mourned the boy's asphyxiation death with small tributes -- three stuffed animals and a few room deodorizer candles on the window ledge of his apartment, a photocopy of his picture taped to the church door. i
Some also denounced a prosecutor's plans for consequences in the death, ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, as far too lenient.

Burning The Koran For Little Baby Jesus

Seems like despite Condoleeza Rice saying that disrespect for the Koran is abhorrent and will never be tolerated by the United States it doesn't match what the ardent conservative heartland of Fundamentalist Christians are up to as they seem to be taking a lot of satisfaction in burning the Koran in public, which just like burning flags, is constitutionally protected free speaach in the USA.

BARE FACED MESSIAH

One of my favourite books of all time is Russell Miller's Bare Faced Messiah, a great expose of Dianetics and Scientology and just an amazing read. I have a battered paperback copy somewhere but I'm still kicking myself I didn't pick up the hardback I saw in a book shop once.

Luckily due to the wonders of the intraweb there is a whole copy of this amazing book on Dienetics and Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard online

if it's the religion of truth..

..then why tell lies?

but all of this can be understood perfectly in the the context of a particularly vicious struggle between two similar but competing meme complexes.

Religions are special because they use just about every meme-trick in the book (which is presumably why they last so long and infect so many brains). Think of it this way. The idea of hell is initially useful because the fear of hell reinforces socially desirable behaviour. Now add the idea that unbelievers go to hell, and the meme and any companions are well protected. The idea of God is a natural companion meme, assuaging fear and providing (spurious) comfort. The spread of the meme-complex is aided by exhortations to convert others and by tricks such as the celibate priesthood. Celibacy is a disaster for genes, but will help spread memes since a celibate priest has more time to spend promoting his faith.

Another trick is to value faith and suppress the doubt that leads every child to ask difficult questions like "where is hell?" and "If God is so good why did those people get tortured?". Note that science (and some forms of Buddhism) do the opposite and encourage doubt.

Finally, once you've been infected with these meme-complexes they are hard to get rid of. If you try to throw them out, some even protect themselves with last-ditch threats of death, ex-communication, or burning in hell-fire for eternity. - from here

no god

Getting quite fed up with all the religious bullshit going down... why don't these people think for themselves instead of taking the easy way out and going for voluntary self brainwashing.

GOD DOES NOT EXIST
And furthermore...

Paraphrased from my good mate Jon's web page.

I could go on and on about the various logical fallacies and inherent contradictions in religion but it's a waste of time.. just observe the strange blank facial expression of a fundy whenever you catch them out as the cogs in their brain jam up and then the brainwashing kicks in and changes the subject for them.
