Adaptec FS4500 RAID sucks
Just for the record I would like to say the Adaptec FS4500 RAID unit sucks. Why they would release such capable hardware with such CRAP SOFTWARE is beyond me. Apperently, the only way to talk directly to this box over the network is vie some convoluted CRAP java interface, despite their being working ssh and ftp servers on the device, the passwords of which are not documented. And if you so much as probe around the thing resets itself. Crap!!!!Posted at: 08:48 | category: /rants | # | 1 comments

Dennis Rader - Christian Church Leader and Mass Murderer.
Former church leader admits 10 murders
... said she began corresponding with Rader around March, "as one person of faith to another."
"We eventually began talking about writing a story about his life, which would have a Christian message," Casarona said.
from the Wichita Eagle
I guess at least he is a "person of faith", I mean if he was a Marilyn Manson fan there would be hell to pay!

Thai Movies!
For some reason I have been watching a lot of Thai movies recently. Some I have been bumbling through without subtitles and others I have had the luxury of subtitles.
Cream of the crop would have to be Buppha Ratree
a funny horror film about the ghost of a student who dies from a backyard abortion, and the zany attemtps to excorcise
her from the bloakc of flats she is terrorising. Saw this without subtitles, and was still impressive.
Also liked Beautiful Boxer an
acclaimed film a bout a famous Muay Thai boxer who is also a Ladyboy.
Another great film, although a bit sad is Mon Rak Transistor, about a carfree country boy who goes AWOL
from military service, also deserting his pregnant wife, with dreams of making it big in the city as a pop singer.

Schappelle and Adiguna
Tough Indonesian Justice? The court heard that Adiguna flew into a rage and shot Rudy in the head from almost point-blank range after being informed his debit card could not be used to settle a Rp150,000 ($16) bar tab. Police have said the tycoon was drunk at the time of the shooting and also under the influence of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) and cocaine. He was not charged with drug offenses. link here and lots more here- this guy got 7 years for shooting a waiter in the head while off his dial.
Yet ..As they did in the trial, prosecutors have stressed the damage drug use causes in society. Corby's sentence was "too light". They urged that their request for a life sentence be upheld.
the Indonesian Judicial system claims it has to be tough
sort of...
And that's not even starting on the slaughter that Kopassus have wreaked across the archipeligo over the years..

boy killed by christians
Terrance Cottrell, an 8 year old boy was killed by christians attemting to exorcise his autism. The Charlotte Observer/August 29, 2003 By Monica DaveyMilwaukee -- Terrance Cottrell Jr. died on the floor of a hot storefront church in a strip mall.
His shirt was drenched in sweat when the church members who were holding him down, saying they wanted to rid him of demons, finally noticed that he was dead. He had urinated on himself, and his small brown face had a bluish cast.
He was 8.
Terrance, who was autistic, was supposed to start third-grade special-education classes at 65th Street Elementary School on Tuesday. Instead, he will be buried here today.
Relatives and neighbors on the city's north side this week mourned the boy's asphyxiation death with small tributes -- three stuffed animals and a few room deodorizer candles on the window ledge of his apartment, a photocopy of his picture taped to the church door. i
Some also denounced a prosecutor's plans for consequences in the death, ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, as far too lenient.

religious maniac kills family after isolated demented existance heavy in bible readings
Marcus Wesson, a controlling patriarch who taught his family that he was Jesus and fathered babies with his daughters and nieces, was found guilty of murdering nine of his children Fridayfull story at the LA Times site.
Wesson was also a strict disciplinarian who punished his children with a stick and subjected them to long Bible lessons
I guess he didn't want any of those evil secular humanists to be a bad influence on them

The Blog well before the term was coined?
As I have just been playing the with Debian wordpress blog packages as an option to offer those besdies the rather nerdcentric pyblosxom, I remembered the "Discursions" concept of my old partner in crime Dwayne, after poking around the net it is still there in something approximating it's original form.. Proof of the whole blog concept being executed ala basic HTML years and years before the term was coined.Posted at: 20:05 | category: /links | # | 0 comments

greylisting could be THE solution to spam.
I have just added greylisting for postfix and for qmail recently and it does an excellent job.. this, combined with already deployed RBL blacklisting and spambayes seems to have nearly eliminated spam, a pity it takes three overlapping techniques to truly nail it. But people not as spam exposed as me would probably get on fine with just the RBLs and greylisting.Posted at: 23:31 | category: /nerdy | # | 0 comments
