got refund
Well Quality Product Supplies refunded the dosh for the card, after making a few attempts to find me another Linux compatible wireless card that works.Will try and dig up more orinoco based cards elsewhere at a later date. Now to busy playing OpenGL based 3D games on my new motherboard and videocard, with Linux version 2.6 and nvida drivers prepared according to this excellent recipe.
