we had a hankering for Thai food so went to Ying Thai on Victoria St

food was good, though very spicy - they said they thought they were making my salad for a Thai so laid on the chilli - at least it was authentic. Service was a bit chaotic, though that just adds to the authenticity sometimes, though they pulled out this mysterious "minimum $12 per head rule" out of nowhere, maybe just a reason to make our food more expensive, who knows.. Had simple guyteo (noodle soop) and nam tok (pork salad) and a coke, for about $17 - which got us this

xmas / birthday time

I got a few new toys so as to compensate myself for being a salary slave nowadays...

An Olympus C-150 digicam, and a new mobo and vidcard for my PC.

The digicam is not bad though it chews through batteries quite quickly, and there seems to be quite a delay (1 second) from hitting the shutter to the photo actually being taken. On the good side it works perfectly with Linux as am USB storage device, and I like the chunky lens cpa that doebles as on/off switch and general robust construction.

After using Pentium/Pentium II grade gear for years at home I spent $305 and 2 cases of Coopers Red I now have an AMD K7 1.67Ghz CPU, new gigabtye MOBO and geforce2 videocard. And Nan and I have been catching up on all those newfangled openGL 3D games we have missed.

got refund

Well Quality Product Supplies refunded the dosh for the card, after making a few attempts to find me another Linux compatible wireless card that works.

Will try and dig up more orinoco based cards elsewhere at a later date. Now to busy playing OpenGL based 3D games on my new motherboard and videocard, with Linux version 2.6 and nvida drivers prepared according to this excellent recipe.
