tpg hassles
I have TPG ADSL - it works fine, is way more reliable than Telstra's crap service and a lot cheaper. So recommended it to my parents - all went swimmingly until it mysteriously screwed up.Their tech support seem to follow scripts - after I jump through all the hoops that demonstrate the gear at our end is working fine (me having extra ADSL gear I had brough over from a working connection seemed to confuse them, though it proved that it must be a line problem).
I asked for a temp dialin account so the parents can check their email - TPG said they wont give one untl they "prove" it is a line problem.. I guess having two seperate working ADSL modems doesn't mean anything.. and I presume as soon as they show it is a line problem it can be easily fixed.. bit of a convenient catch 22 for them I guess.

sunday afternoon links
What better way to spend Sunday afternoon but adding links to my web page.Like Phonophunk, responsible for the ace original web page design (style sheet and theme ripped off for this page).
And Marcus Bennett and John Power, video artists responsible for some of the great visuals at HEADSPACE parties and other ZOG gigs.

the right to read
Eben Moglen, a Columbia University law professor who represents the Free Software Foundation, says an SCO victory would further consolidate the software industry, raising possibilities for electronic surveillance of citizens. 'The ability to modify technology in the 21st century is power,' Moglen says. 'And it either belongs to a few, or to everybody. ... Those who control the behavior of technology control lives.'- from Groklaw which is monitoring an extremely underhand attempt to do this..
See also The Right To Read.. think of current "technology" developments when reading:
"It was also possible to bypass the copyright monitors by installing a modified system kernel. Dan would eventually find out about the free kernels, even entire free operating systems, that had existed around the turn of the century. But not only were they illegal, like debuggers--you could not install one if you had one, without knowing your computer's root password. And neither the FBI nor Microsoft Support would tell you that."

what with the move of the ZOG and Clanananalogue servers from rosehosting to serverbeach and this my alleged "spare time" is starting to look just like work...

fm synthesis
rocks my world. My Yamaha Dx21 and Korg ER-1 is pretty much all I have been using for my recent live sets. The laptop I use to sequence the Dx21 is starting to get flaky, so thinking of one of these DX200 devices to complete my jammin setup.Posted at: 23:57 | category: /bleeps | # | 0 comments
Python
Well I used to pretty much stick to C and bash as my languages of choice, Perl is such a dogs dinner. But Python has been what I have been writing most stuff in nowadays, it is clean and well implemented, with a readable syntax and complete library that makes it ultra useful for general scripting and coding tasks.Posted at: 23:50 | category: /links | # | 0 comments

General Blog Started
Well as http://www.zog.net.au/ is intended more as an official homepage for my published works and activities (i.e. music and software), I have spun this off as a more fluid page so I can prattle aimlessly about whatever takes my fancy.Posted at: 23:35 | category: / | # | 0 comments
